2. Amazon Software Unicorns? While Amazon might not have sparked any billon-dollar software startups like the dozen Shopify has, software companies built for use with Amazon are growing quickly and may change that. 3rd party solutions like Helium 10 and Jungle Scout are commonly used and even considered necessary by many. It is interesting to note however, that of the categories these software's are used in, Advertising is expanding the fastest. [Learn more].

3. Ebay and Etsy seem to be fighting for small businesses. Ebay CEO Jamie Iannone and his counterpart at Etsy, Josh Silverman both recently advocated for more lenient laws pertaining to online sellers. The former pushing for a re-evaluation of recent tax changes that would put stress on more casual sellers, and the latter asking federal protections to be allocated to those lacking employer benefits. [Learn more].

4. Back to pre-covid days for ecommerce? Like many businesses this year, Amazon saw a decrease in valuation, and in the online selling giant's case, a 50% drop in stock price. The vast gains we saw for Amazon back in 2020 due to pandemic at-home shopping are back down to normal - but lets just hope they don't fall further. [Learn more].

5. A last-minute reminder to avoid last-minute scams. Amazon recently released a statement warning consumers to be aware of scammers. The timing is noteworthy given that they will definitely attempt to take advantage of holiday urgency. The selling platform warns mainly of two specific schemes, namely "Order Confirmation Scams" and "Tech Support Scams" [Learn more].
